Congress has a choice to make: stand with families or with big chemical companies. Budget cuts, staffing changes, and policy rollbacks have left fewer experts to monitor contamination and protect communities— and industry lobbyists are pushing for more cuts and delays, even as contamination spreads and health harms rise.
Every day of inaction means more Americans are exposed to dangerous chemicals in their homes and communities.
Your voice can change that. Join Take on Toxins to hold Congress accountable and demand common-sense protections grounded in science, not politics.
- Email or Call Your Senators and Members of Congress: Join thousands of families asking Congress one simple question: who is EPA working for: our families or the chemical companies? It takes 30 seconds to send your message—your voice matters. Tell them to:
- Fund EPA at or near the Fiscal Year 2025 level of roughly $9.2 billion, rejecting the more than 50 percent cut in the president’s proposed budget as well as proposals to zero out the ENERGY STAR program and Office of Atmospheric Protection.
- Reject harmful proposals to use the Congressional Review Act process to reduce protections for human health and safety, including bills that would reverse a ban on trichloroethylene, a powerful carcinogen; increase children’s exposure to lead, which damages early childhood development; and allow the coal, oil and natural gas industries to continue pumping pollutants into the air and water.
- Reject any administration attempt to “impound” congressionally authorized and appropriated EPA spending, including through the use of “pocket recissions” that violate the Constitution by usurping Congress’ power of the purse.
- Take actions to restore any illegal reductions in force of EPA personnel the administration attempts during the government shutdown.
- Take actions to secure the release of the report EPA scientists have completed on the toxicity of “forever chemical” PFNA.
- Join the Campaign: Stay informed and connected to stories from people taking on toxins nationwide.
